Also, so many stupid changes. Avalanche don't blow up the reactor. They try to but their bomb's a dud, so Shinra pulls a 9/11 and blows it up themselves to frame the terrorists. Not only does this devalue the agency and moral dilemma of Avalanche's actions but it also demeans the plot twist later on when Shinra destroys the Plate to crush Sector 7. How is it a shock that Shinra is willing to mass-murder its own citizens when they do it in the first 10 minutes of the game?

The FF7 Compilation proved that current Square has no fucking idea what made FF7 great. Obviously the likes of Sakaguchi were keeping all of Nomura & co's autism in check.

Well, here's the retardation of the thing: they didn't have to. Literally all they had to do was remake the old game, word for word, with better graphics and 'muh voice acting', That's literally all that they needed to do. But Nomura & Co are so retarded that they felt the need to stroke themselves off, too.

Most of the work has already been done for them. The only thing more numerous than FF7 HD mods (or at least mods that replace the 3D models with something that hasn't aged like milk in the desert) are fake guides about how you can totally keep Aerith alive and recruit Sephiroth if you never use Materia and always win every fight in 1 round.

They could easily give FF7 a Trials of Mana treatment, but they won't. Their egos are too bloated, and they want to milk this "remake" for at least 20 years (maybe even 30).
This is also partially to keep that one meme alive. You know the one. The one about how FF7 is so massive in scope that modern graphics could never hope to contain it in its entirety. Even though advancements in video game development have made it possible to create a superior FF7 that runs in a fucking browser.
