Re: Doge Walker and Channel Awesome
He became another victim (for want of a better word) of typecasting. Caught lightning in a bottle with the first (or one of the first) thing he created, tried something different, nobody wanted it because it wasn’t exactly the same thing.
It happens to a lot of writers, actors, etc. Remember when JK Rowling began writing adult fiction? A lot of her fans wouldn’t give it a chance because it wasn’t exactly like Harry Potter. Look at the HP stuff she’s written since then.

That partial blue hair edit on your avy is quite impressive.

Didn't Cinemassacre remove Channel Awesome as an affiliate website? I remember hearing about that on foxdickfarms.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 8:16 amYou guys weren't kidding about foxdickfarm's #complicit delusions. Someone over there mentioned that he was surprised James "went back to associating" with Doge. He never stopped, you dumb walnut. He was just busy with his own stuff and didn't have the time or desire to do another crossover till now.

If James did it, it was probably because Channel Awesome is dead anyway, why would you link to a site that has no traffic?

I picture Doge cradling a stock photo of AVGN crying over a sad 2000s pop song.

I actually disagree, though I won't say this didn't happen too. The thing with Demo Reel was that it was fairly standard beginner film student stuff. AKA crap. If it were written, I'd call it a bad attempt at Literary Fiction, which I can rant about for hours.ChangeTheChunnel wrote: ↑Sun Nov 04, 2018 5:31 pmHe became another victim (for want of a better word) of typecasting. Went about two episodes, sucked, then he ran out of steam and started doing the same schlock that made up his skits. Same crap, same pulling from pre-existing stuff to make jokes.
I, personally, think the whole thing just pulled back the curtain. Drove home the point to CA, Doge and the audience that if he's not doing riffs, he really doesn't have anything else going.

This. Doge's problem isn't that his fans hate anything new. He's made changes to the show they accepted. The problem is that he's not good at writing original content. Whether he's actually good at riffing is debatable, but at least his work there appeals to the 10-15 year old demographic. His original content appeals to almost no one.Guest wrote: ↑Mon Nov 05, 2018 1:26 pmI actually disagree, though I won't say this didn't happen too. I haven't read Rowling's adult stuff so I can't say for sure if it's the same deal or not, but adult fiction would require a different tone than the whimsical bullshit in Harry Potter, so it's possibly the same situation.
A lot of the time "fans hate anything new" is just an excuse to ignore the ways the new stuff sucks. Rian Johnson used it for Teh Last Jedi. Hell, I'm pretty sure Paul Feig used it for Fembusters.

He needs a writer who isn't micromanaged by Mike the Aspy, or the Super Baldo Bros.
