Spoony has never once made any reference to ever cooking his own food or even eating a vegetable. It's all fast food or food he just has to heat up.

This is also the only period in his entire 40 year life when he's lived alone. he always had someone else around who presumably at least made sure he ate something half-way resembling food. If he lived alone for a few years he'd surely die of malnutrition.
