The general consensus is that Doge and company have pissed away everything they earned and are just making ends meet now and days. They were likely already squandering away their cash before it happened, but apparently Demo Reel was a big factor in their troubled finances.

They invested a ton of money into it expecting it to be their launching point into Hollywood, only to see it fail horribly. The Indiegogo money was allegedly used to get themselves out of the hole. Since then they have had to also deal with decreasing viewership and constantly losing platforms to keep their content on.

And of course: Doge is just stupid. All the stories told about him reveal just how incompetent of a person he is. Even the simplest of things he is unable to accomplish without help. Why is his finances any different?
