Mastersystem and Megadrive, sure. Dreamcast? It was obscure as fuck in Europe. Doesn't help that Sega did what Nintendo would do later with the WiiU in confusing people what the fuck the situation is. So the next one is the Neptune? No? Cancelled? So the Saturn? No? Is it cancelled? No? But where is it? Oh, not really released here? So what now? What, Dreamcast? And when does that- you know what, I think I'll just get a Playstation instead.

i bought a dreamcast a little after it failed, simply because i read how you could burn discs for it. i actually bought a few games used. i kind of regret that for some reason i never bought or played (still) the first sonic adventure game, since i grew up with all the sonic games on genesis. but those were great. people act like adventure was too but i still doubt it and i assume it aged poorly.

crazy taxi i owned and could not understand it's popularity. i kind of hated it. shenmue was pretty cool for its time but it was really kind of a walking simulator. it was neat seeing the rendering of a small japanese village in the 80s and being able to walk around in it and... pick things up and... move your hand around while looking at them... i guess... the arcade in that game was probably the coolest part because you could play some actually good games there. still, it was neat. never got around to part 2, and it kind of baffles me how they're making a part 3 now since games like GTA 3 and the others came out since and are open world games where you can actually do fun things, unlike shenmue. the fighting system of shenmue seemed deep but you barely got to use it.

code veronica was probably the 'best' game i played on DC, and it was good, for those old style resident evil games. otherwise yeah i don't get people acting like dreamcast had a huge amount of great games. it did have a charm to it, and those 3d games made by sega definitely had their own 'feel' to them, being super colorful and reeking of some kind of unique 'era', probably down to japanese culture of the time. but a lot of that feel carried right over to their nintendo games when they became 3rd party for them. if you want to experience that shit, just get a gamecube.

Dreamcast had too many PC ports and shitty PlayStation games with minor graphics upgrades. If it hadn't died out after a couple of years we might have gotten some of those sweet arcade games for it.
