There are just way too many cocksuckers walking on this earth. I'm not misanthrope, but I have nothing but contempt for most of these "fans", because they largely form of subhumans, bugmen and similar creatures that you woudn't want to have anything to do IRL.

It's also what makes streaming so filthy - it turned from a hobby to a massive business primarily fueled by those pathetic creatures, it's those cretins that throw money at the streams, who have nothing but contempt for them, but pretend to be there for them. "Pay to be my friend" is the most pathetic trend I can think of, at least at general level when it comes to things that are accepted and done by a large groups of people.

It's true that arena shooters don't work anymore. You need a massive player base with plenty of self-hosted servers and cannon fodder around. The cannon fodder plays gay shit like Fortnite, Overwatch or whatever Battle Royal bullshit is popular any given week.
But they are still king at LAN parties. Yeah yeah, I know, I'm old.

People are nostalgic for those days not because of hardcore gaymur cred. They are because random shit to make little Bobby have a chance gets boring very fast to people of legal drinking age with an IQ higher than their age. The worst offenders are Battle Royal games. When you got dropped in under a second in UT, Quake or even CS it was your fault. But most importantly, those games were even fun if you were bad at them. Most current multiplayer games aren't. They are frustrating and more often than not by design to make you buy some bullshit micro transaction shit.
