The Bible somehow has a book of erotic poetry (the Song of Solomon), which has its moments:

It's really funny because the Song of Solomon is the last book before the prophets (starting with Isaiah) crash the Bible with their constant kvetching about Jerusalem being destroyed and imagery of pain and death and cannibalism.

The entire old testament is nothing but god being disappointed, alpha platinum mad and baffled and defeated by the response of his worshippers. Like a parent that has a retarded child and just can't deal with it, in frustration tried to beat the shit out of it many times and eventually just gave up.
And give up god did. No more miracles was basically him throwing his hands in the air and going "Alright, fuck it! I'm done with you lot! Get fucked and don't bother praying because I'm not listening anymore. If you need me, I'm over at alpha centauri with the guys that actually listen to me. See you when you get there, which I hope is fucking never.".
