Inside his head, he is the zombie hermit. You can have surprisingly interesting conversations with some homeless people (not that I've tried, but I've seen enough of that), but that doesn't mean they're functional human beings. They are often damaged beyond repair. And some might argue that Spoonster was already damaged beyond repair from the beginning, but for a while, he was stable, productive and a cunt. Over the time, he just became unproductive, unstable cunt.

It was always an act. I believe he has mental illness. But it's not anxiety. He's a compulsive liar and a sociopath. Also he definitely has munchausens.

I keep remembering the thing Kugel mentioned that he knows/knew a guy like that, who was completely useless. Couldn't get anything done at all. I can't imagine being this far gone, being completely useless, not due to some physical disability, but because he's a weak, pathetic little human being. And in Spooner's mind, he likely doesn't see this at all - still talks about trying to get back into it - I don't know into what, since first he would have to try get back into functioning like a human being.

Yup, psychosis. Imagine like Charlie Zelenoff just instead of boxing it's being a guitarist. Zelenoff will go to have an actual boxing match, get hit, run away and still claim to be undefeated. You can't even punch reality into his face. His perception of it is just wrong and nothing, no experience at all, changes that. You can't even cure it or something.

The dude I knew has been doing nothing for close to 12 years now. He's got himself some girlfriend he lives with. No idea why she puts up with that. He isn't in any band anymore and last I heard doesn't even play guitar any longer but still talks about becoming a rock star.
Really weird shit. He just changed at some point over the course of maybe half a year, was a completely different person and it's been like that since then. Kinda scary. I blame the massive amount of psychedelic drugs he was taking back then.
