What I don't understand about Rolfe is that he now must have some budget and/or pull to get at least some kind of semi-decent film horror/project going. And I don't mean some terrible short with heinous effects either, he knows his stuff and I just don't know why he wouldn't want to direct something actually watchable and give Brad a run for his money.

I know he likes cheesy stuff and those old hammer films, but I can't imagine he wouldn't want to do anything else. I just don't get it.

So? It's AVGN. And honestly, given how kindly Rolfe is, I wouldn't be surprised if he let Matei and/or his wife rewrite the script and the actors ad-lib massively.
