Using YT to listen to music is fucking annoying if you use a smartphone. Can't even turn off the fucking screen without the video pausing automatically. And of course you have to have to video playing instead of just getting the audio directly. Unless you're a premium user of course.

There's a Firefox addon that allows for playback with the screen off.

Newpipe has audio only playback. Unless you use iOS like a homo.

I use Firetube and that works too.

But my smartphone insists on using that YT I think. Haven't reall tinkered a lot with it, tbh.

The YT app? I manage to completely avoid it. No adblock is an instant deal breaker with that stuff.

Adblock Browser for Android works for me. SOMETIMES I manage to get audio only/no screen on playback, but it's odd and I haven't figured out how to replicate it consistently.

UBlock seems to work just fine on Firefox for Android.
