Tom Hardy is usually the best part of everything he's in.
Yeah, I think the only major exception is Mad Max: Fury Road. He's good in it but he's upstaged by Nicholas Hoult.
I'd agree with that and also say Immortan Joe upstaged Max quite a bit.

Btw kinda related I remember in Dougs "review" of Fury Road (he really just recreates some of the images of the film and mocks it) he spends a good chunk of time badmouthing Tom Hardy, calling him a wooden pretty boy and also claims Beyond Thunderdome is best Mad Max film. Doge has really shit opinions on films.

Steven Universe is a fantastic cartoon that's full of deep themes, The Amazing Spider-Man films are better than the Raimi Spider-Man films, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is the best Mad Max film, Red Dragon is better than Manhunter, the Jaden Smith Karate Kid is better than the old Karate Kid, The Matrix Reloaded is the best Matrix film. Doge has the worst opinions. Well, he changed his mind about The Matrix Reloaded but for many years he proudly proclaimed it was better than the first Matrix.

The weirdest thing I've seen when looking at his recent output was him apparently doing Steven Universe vlogs. Who does that?

I'm sure Doge started the Steven Universe vlogs because it's a very easy way to get lots of views. All he has to do is watch an 11 minute episode and then talk in front of a camera for 10-25 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't really give a shit about it. Although he has incredibly bad taste so I also wouldn't be surprised if he genuinely loves it.

That's what gets me. Vlogs for individual episodes of such a short cartoon? That's already stupid, even without factoring the show itself.

I have not seen Beyond Thunderdome, but Gibson is pretty damn good in Road Warrior, and completely wipes the floor with Hardy, who really is wooden in the new Max and I just didn't get what the hell he was supposed to be doing. Or why - I get that he's supposed to be this traumatized guy who doesn't really care about anything, but they don't do anything with him to make him relatable at all. Compared to Gibson, he plays the cool guy from the beginning to the end and sells it to you that you take it without questioning it.

I really like Fury Road, but they could've changed the protagonist completely and it wouldn't hurt the movie at all, it could only get better.

My biggest complaint about TDKR is the same with Batman Begins. They push aside the fun villains Bane and Scarecrow for Ra's Al Ghul and Talia who are so boring.
Yeah, the Ghuls were pretty meh. Although Bane got tons and tons of screentime so I wouldn't complain about Talia upstaging him at the very end. The one who got fucked over was Scarecrow, he only had 10-15 minutes of screentime in Batman Begins and he got tazed in the face by Katie "the worst actor in Nolan's Batman films" Holmes. Although he had some fun cameos in TDK and TDKR.

Then again TDKR gave us ridiculous melodramatic Shakespear Bane, so I can't complain too much. I'd watch an entire fucking TV show with nothing but Bane talking.
Bane was by far the best part of TDKR. He's one of my favorite capeshit villains.
TDKR turned out the way it did due to unfortunate circumstances. It's pretty obvious the Joker was being set up as the villain for the third Nolan movie, but Heath Ledger's death changed all that, so they had to make up something else entirely to conclude the trilogy and use another villain as an antagonist. I think they made a pretty good third film given the circumstance, but the Joker's absence and lack of acknowledgement was pretty big elephant in the room for me.
